Pastor Roger and Janice Rowland |

Roger & Janice grew up in The Salvation Army and trained to be Salvation Army Officers in the late 1970s. They have three grown up daughters and sons in law (photo above). Roger is a qualified teacher and spent a number of years teaching physical education in both secondary and primary schools. Janice works as a social worker for Family Matters Fostering Ltd. They are both directors of Bude New Life Centre.Roger has been a church minister within the Elim Pentecostal church since 1987,having pastored churches in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Salisbury and now Bude.
Janice is a member of the church leadership team, enjoys many creative hobbies including being a keen quilter and a member of the Bude quilting group. Roger is a keen sportsman (mostly in his mind these days) and plays badminton and cycles. He is also a member of Bude Metric Brass where he plays the cornet. Roger currently serves as a councillor on the Bude and Stratton Borough Council. Together they enjoy kayakking, walking, caravanning and enjoying good meals out.
Their passion is to see a continually growing and developing church in Bude that is open to all God has for them and the community.

Pastor John and Mary Smyth |

John and Mary have been part of the congregation for several years enjoying "semi-retirement" . John has accepted the role of Associate Pastor and serves alongside Pastor Roger. John has many years of ministerial experience having been the senior pastor of churches including Plymouth Christian Centre. John has also served the Elim movement as Southern Region Superintendent, a member of the Elim Executive, the Field Superintendent and as the Principle of Regents Theological College. John serves as a director of Bude New Life Centre.
Mary serves alongside John on the leadership team of the church as well as leading one of our very successful Life Groups and taking in a leading role in the pastoral care of some of our older congregation. Throughout her time in ministry she has successfully set up nurseries in church and college settings and encouraging those who are in the early years of ministry.
Together they enjoy travelling, socialising and spending time with their family and friends.
They have two sons and four grand children and two great grand children.Life has turned full circle because Pastor Roger commenced his Elim ministry as the assistant pastor to John at Plymouth Christian Centre. Hear Pastor John Preach at our sermon page. |
